History
The Sociology/Anthropology department began in 1972 at Sangamon State University. Over the years, the classes have changed but the department has always had a commitment to providing courses that allow students to learn how people, both past and present, relate to each other and their environment, as well as how ideas such as race, class, gender, sexuality, and other areas of identity affect their experiences. Currently, the department is part of College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
