This collection contains the newspaper clippings of the Center arranged by city and topic. The cities covered are Decatur, Peoria and Springfield (including the Ice Storm of March/April 1978), Illinois. These are the planning papers and the preliminary data from an unfunded project on Quality of Life Among the Aging. Included in the collection are letters, memos, a bibliography on aging, census statistics on aging for Springfield from 1900 to 1970, characteristics of Older Persons in Illinois, and information about Senior Citizens Commission of Springfield, Senior Citizens of Sangamon County (including the White Cottage of Springfield), and other materials.

The collection includes the records of the Qualify of Life Project. These records include the surveys of eight Illinois communities on quality of life. These cities included Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Decatur, East St. Louis, Peoria, Rockford, Rock Island-Moline, and Springfield. Also included are what instruments were used in the survey, questionnaires, computer printouts of statistical data and other materials relating to the project.
