History
The biology program at Sangamon State University (SSU), was one of the original programs and helped the university attract upper division science geared students. The school, even after the incorporation into the University of Illinois system, has had a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At some point, the master’s program was dropped and now UIS offers a B.S. in Biology, Biology with a pre-medical concentration, and a degree with an environment concentration.
