Scope and Contents
This collection documents the effort to establish interdisciplinary degree programs at SSU. The material in these drafts has its final form in "Guide to Sangamon State University," SSU's first catalogue in the descriptions of four programs- Work, Leisure, Poverty and Power, Justice and the Social Order; Communication and Modern Technology; Man, and his Environment.

History
At the time of reprocessing not much is known about George Cohen other than he earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Columbia University in New York City and his B.A. from Yeshiva University. He was originally hired by Robert Spencer to be the Vice-President of Academic Affairs but sometime between SSU being formed in 1969 and its doors officially opening in 1970, Geroge Cohen was fired.
