This collection specifically deals with the office files of the Dean of Academic Programs, Larry Shiner (1975 -). This includes correspondence, memoranda, and reports concerning academic programs and operations of the office.

One of the earliest departments, Academic Affairs, has changed greatly over the history of the school. Currently, The Division of Academic Affairs at the University of Illinois Springfield comprises the four academic colleges (College of Business and Management, College of Health, Science and Technology, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Public Affairs and Education) as well as Brookens Library and the Center for State Policy and Leadership.
