History
President Spencer, in September of 1971, established an advisory committee on the Status of University Women. The functions of the committee were to serve as an informal channel for concerns and complaints from university women; collecting and interpreting data about women and their relationship to the university in matters relating to employment, placement, and services; and reviewing existing university policy and progress affecting women and suggesting when necessary to modify programs and practices.
The first members where Jackie Jackson (Faculty), Judy Everson (Faculty), Alice Lanich (student), Karen Gregg (Student), Peg Blaser (Community), Marlene Smith (Staff), and Jane Gair (Community).
As of 2024, it is unclear if this committee is still in existence either under its current name or under a different one.
