History
Annabelle Lewis Patton was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 1, 1925, to Dr. David J. and Anne Lewis. She moved to Springfield, Illinois when she was six months old when her father moved to Illinois to start his medical practice. She would graduate from Springfield High School and went to Mills College in Oakland, California for her bachelors. She received her master’s degree from the University of Illinois, and her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University.
She married Donald R. Patton in 1949 and had three sons, Rick, David, and Robert. She became the first chairperson of the International Visitors Commission. She would also work as the Assistant Dean of Admission/Records at SSU.
Annabelle Patton died January 16, 2008, at the Illinois Presbyterian Home in Springfield Illinois.
