This collection contains the personal papers of Steven R. Carter relating to his dissertation on American author James Jones. It contains correspondence with Jones, a draft of the dissertation, and a revised copy which was published as a book in 1998.

Biography
Steven Ray Carter was born in 1942. He was an instructor in English at Youngstown State University in Ohio in 1968-1970, 1972, and 1973, followed by positions at the University of Sassari, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, University of Puerto Rico-Rio Pedras, Salem State College, University of Akron, and Trenton State College.
