Scope and Contents
This collection includes papers, programs, memos, reports, announcements, and media (audio and video), booklets, press releases, papers of the coordinating committee as well as the contents of a time capsule that was set to open June 11, 2001. Historical note: This time capsule was opened and there is an article in the State Journal about said opening.
The audio and video are numbered sequentially and in the second box.

History
May 23 through May 26 in 1971, SSU held University Week with the theme of “The Year 2001: Sangamon State Probes the Future” The speakers and participants included Rob Fischer, Arthur C. Clarke, Brent Ashabramner, Dennis Little, Thomas Turner, Anthony Downs, Dr. Daniel Bloomfild, Dr. Lewis Kurke, Dr. William McClure and Colonel Matthew Parrish. Nelson Howarth, Owen Anderson, and Robert C. Spender also participated.
Topics included futurism, forecasting, utopias, science fiction, third world, medical care, Springfield in the year 2001, Delphi Project, SSU in the year 2001, urban life in the year 2001, children’s literature, 2001: a space odyssey, electric cards, and much more.
