Scope and Contents
Alternative school founded by Joan Gillespie and Carolyn Oxtoby in Springfield, Illinois in 1969, initially offering grades 6-9, but eventually offering a complete program in grades 1-12. Later offered pre-school through elementary programs. The school closed ca. 1986. "Overview," compiled by Kathleen Hawks, detailing the history, accreditation, admissions policy, philosophy and curriculum of the City Day School. Also includes a listing of faculty members, the Board of Trustees, and several pages of student comments. 18 p., 8.5" x 11."
