Thirty-page, handwritten exercise book containing practical arithmetic problems covering measures, weights and currencies, including the exchange of New England, Virginia, Federal and English monies. The problems are derived from a textbook by Michael Walsh and Richard Turner "A New System of Mercantile Arithmetic: Adapted to the Commerce of the United States..." which went through many editions between 1800 and 1830.

Entitled, "My Recollection of Lincoln as a Boy - By J. C. Spangler in 1865." Typed on Walnut Milling Company letterhead.
