Alumni SAGE Society Legacy Oral History Project Winkler attended Sangamon State University between 1977 and 1981 to obtain a master’s degree in Gerontology. She fondly remembers Professors Gari Lesnoff-Caravaglia, Jeff Chesky, and Harry Berman. Winkler was a member of the Gerontology Club, Sigma Phi Omega, and the Alumni organization.
