ILLINOIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY ORAL HISTORY PROGRAM
Tipsword, Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives 1967-79, discusses accomplishments and issues of his years in the General Assembly: 1966 campaign and election, duties as legislator, legislative reform, public and higher education, revenue and appropriations, judiciary committee work, relations between the legislature and judiciary, and the leaders of the General Assembly. He also discusses his years before and after the General Assembly: childhood and high school in Beecher City, Illinois, WWII Navy service, college and law school, his law practice, and election and service as State's Attorney in Christian County, Illinois.
