Tuggle, employee of Bachrach's Department in Decatur, Illinois from 1955 until 1982, recalls working his way up from stock boy to General Manager, Vice President-Merchandise Manager and Executive Vice President. He discusses his early years in California and on a farm near Warrensburg, Illinois, his family, experiences in positions of increasing responsibility at the Bachrach store, its layout, relations with Henry and Edward Bachrach, their business philosophies, fellow employees, businesses in downtown Decatur, his ideas regarding sales techniques, and the clothing trade in general.
