Loose, a resident of Illiopolis, recalls the construction of and production at the Sangamon Ordnance Plant: the land occupied, housing needs, community reaction, secrecy and security, fear of air raids, and long-term effects of the plant. Also recalls family, schooling, and the contrast between 1930's and 1980's farming.
