INSTITUTE OF INTER-AMERICAN AFFAIRS COLLECTION Dorothy Dee Longan, wife of John P. Longan, recalls experiences in Guatemala, Brazil, Venezuela, and Thailand as a woman, wife, and mother. She discusses the challenges of each country with regards to: moving, people, climate, culture, language, living conditions, housing, housekeeping, marketing, church, trips, recreation, friends, and sometimes revolutions and terrorism. Also discusses her family background and experiences, Border Patrol work, and the effects of foreign living on children.
