Battuello, coal miner, discusses his participation in the Progressive Miners of America, its activities and leaders, and helping to write its constitution; also working conditions in Illinois coal mines of the 1930's, union activities, black lung disease, and the Mulkeytown march. He also discusses living conditions for miners, community response to miners, union leadership, women's support, and violent protests.
