Armbrust recalls her childhood on a farm near Petersburg in Menard Co., Illinois, grade school at Indian Point, butchering, and food preparation. She also discusses nurses training at Deaconess School of Nursing in Lincoln, Illinois, classmates, working at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, her career as a private and hospital nurse, experiences working at a printshop, and recuperation from two broken hips.
