ILLINOIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY ORAL HISTORY PROGRAM
Parkhurst, Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives 1959-69, discusses his years in the General Assembly: campaigns, judicial and legislative reforms, reapportionment, anti-crime bills, education legislation and civil rights legislation. Also discusses his years before the General Assembly: family, education, law school and practice, and time in the military. Also the years after: the 1970 Illinois Constitutional Convention, work as Assistant Attorney General and member of the Mental Health Transition Task Force.
