Scope and Contents
Osby, Springfield, Illinois native, discusses the African-American community in Springfield: segregation, education, employment, Depression, NAACP in Springfield, the NAACP Abraham Lincoln Birthday Banquet, black police officers, African-American newspaper publications, and race discrimination. He also discusses working as a social work aid with the Federal Transient Bureau, work as editor and publisher of the Capital City News, businesses and politics in Springfield. He also briefly recalls his service in the South Pacific during World War II.
