Scope and Contents
Piper, a journalist of Paris, Illinois, recalls his childhood near Sumner in Lawrence County, Illinois: family, education in a one-room school, and attending high school in Bridgeport. He also recalls joining the Lone Scouts in 1922, the history of the Lone Scouts, their merger with the Boy Scouts in 1924, becoming a Distinguished Eagle Scout, changes in scouting over the years, and his collection of scouting memorabilia.
