Scope and Contents

Knudson, founder of Lincoln Memorial Gardens in Springfield, discusses the origin of the Gardens in 1932, its development by landscape architect Jens Jensen, the role of the Garden Club of Illinois, the importance of establishing Illinois native plants, the development of the Gardens' Boy Scout Council rings, nature center, and parking area, and the realization of the mission of the Gardens as a living memorial to Abraham Lincoln.
