Maysie (Kious) Chamberlain discusses her early life living on the Indiana/Illinois border in the late 19th century, losing her father at a young age, and the difficulties of making ends meet. After working in the homes of neighbors for extra income, she had to leave school to work full time and would go on to earn her teaching certificate, using it to teach in rural schools. She and husband Merrill Chamberlain would spend the rest of their lives in Kankakee, Illinois raising their four daughters. 2 Digital audio files: 46 min., 42 min.
