Maysie (Kious) Chamberlain discusses her early life living on the Indiana/Illinois border in the late 19^th century, losing her father at a young age, and the difficulties of making ends meet. After working in the homes of neighbors for extra income, she had to leave school to work full time and would go on to earn her teaching certificate, using it to teach in rural schools.
