Scope and Contents
This collection contains the records of the People’s Alliance for Reproductive Choice. Materials include by-laws, minutes, notes, correspondence, finances, brochures, advertisements, newsletters, and collected literature documenting the Alliance’s efforts to organize, solicit membership, and to lobby in support of the right to safe and legal abortions. The collection is divided into two series: Papers and Membership Records. Series are arranged alphabetically. Access to Series II is restricted.

Biography
The People’s Alliance for Reproductive Choice (PARC) was an affiliate of the Illinois chapter of the National Abortion Rights Action League [NARAL]. It was formed in the fall of 1978 with the goal of ensuring the availability of safe and legal abortion in Illinois. The group announced its formation in advertisements on January 22, 1979, the sixth anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The organization was most active from 1979 to 1981. In 1979 they sent a delegate to a national conference of NARAL in Washington, D.C.
Key leaders of the group included Nina Adams, president; John Arnold, treasurer; Bev Dobbs, membership; Jo Ann Duma, secretary, and Kathy Wood, chair.
