Scope and Contents

This collection contains two depositions given by Malcolm Levin and papers related to those depositions. The depositions pertain to a case brought by Andrew Edwards and Anna Edwards against Alex Lacy and Susan Dezondolet, and concerns Levin’s experiences on the Tenure Decision Committee.

Biography

Malcolm P. Levin was born in Virginia in July 1943. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Virginia, his Master’s degree in Applied Ecology from the University of Delaware, and his Ph.D. in General Ethics from Virginia Cal Tech Institute circa 1970. He spent two and a half years at Stanford University conducting research on population biology and as a part-time teaching fellow, and joined Sangamon State University (later University of Illinois-Springfield) as an Assistant Professor in 1973. He retired circa 2004 as a emeritus professor of Environmental Studies and Biology.

Levin married Cynthia Edwards in 1989. Cynthia Edwards-Levin served for three years as the Assistant Director of the Decatur Arts Council, after which she became the first Executive Director of the Dana-Thomas House Foundation. She passed away on February 29, 1996 and a scholarship at the University of Illinois-Springfield was established in her honor.
