Biography

Dennis David Camp was born December 14, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Robert Thurston and Marjorie Ernell Hoxie Camp. He received his B.A. in English Literature from Hope College in Michigan; M.A. from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a founding faculty member of Sangamon State University (later University of Illinois-Springfield), where he taught from 1970 to 1993 and served as the Dean of the Arts and Sciences Cluster from 1982 to 1985. Camp was a Vachel Lindsay scholar and served as the President of the Vachel Lindsay Association from 2009-2011.
