This collection contains the personal papers of Michael Ayers relating to his dissertation and the topic of pollution in Illinois. It includes reports, drafts and papers, correspondence, state legislative files, and newsletters relating to air pollution, water pollution, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, and the Illinois Pollution Control Board.

Biography
Michael Ayers was born circa 1942 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was an Associate Professor of Economics at Sangamon State University and later joined the university administration to serve as the Vice President of Academic Affairs. After retiring from the University of Illinois-Springfield in 2000, Ayers took a position as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
