INSTITUTE OF INTER-AMERICAN AFFAIRS COLLECTION Mortimer Rosenfeld, doctor of medicine and obstetrics, discusses his experiences working for the IIAA in Brazil's Amazon Valley: health programs and policies, medical training and posts; government and politics, economics, people, religion, and culture; diseases and cures; transportation and travels. Also recalls his early education, time in the Boy Scouts, medical practice and military experiences before the IIAA. Also included is an essay by Mortimer Rosenfeld describing the Amazon in 1958.
