Calista Herndon recalls her mother-in-law, Kate Herndon, who was born in 1855. She recounts Kate Herndon's recollections of Abraham Lincoln and his family in Springfield, Lincoln's law partner and biographer William Herndon, members of the Herndon family, and their dry goods business. She also discusses Kate Herndon's education and marriage, Kate's 100th birthday, the Elijah Iles house, and china painting.
