Scope and Contents

Judge DeBoice, a Republican probate judge 1930-50, recalls political figures at the local, state, and national level; presidential campaigns, National Conventions of the 30's and 40's, state and Sangamon County politics, his law practice near Clinton, Dewitt County history, and Illinois land barons. He discusses his family history, military service during WWI, the 1918 influenza epidemic, prohibition, and the effects of the Great Depression. He also recalls a 1916 arson trial tried by Tim Sullivan and Clarence Darrow.
