Emil Chanlett, sanitary engineer, husband of Eliska Chanlett, discusses his work and experiences with the IIAA. In Bolivia: language training, silicosis survey in tin mines, and work with respiratory hazards. In Brazil: Amazon River, the Amazon Valley project, climate, the city of Belem, the Brazilian people, policies and programs for sanitation and public health, transportation, water supply, and the organization of the IIAA. In Honduras: sanitation programs, malaria control, roads, economic development, and politics. Also included in the memoir is an article written by Donald L. Snow about the IIAA and the Pan American Sanitary Bureau, and Pan American Sanitary Bureau bulletin.
