MC100. Ron Peddicord Route 66 Collection, 1912-2012
Scope and Contents
This collection of items relating to U.S. Highway 66 was collected by Ron Peddicord from 1991 to 2012. Items in the collection include guidebooks, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, postcards, maps, brochures, photographs, license plates, and various artifacts associated with the people, businesses, roadside attractions, and events along Route 66 in Illinois and other states, but more specifically in Sangamon County, Illinois. Also included are general items about other Illinois highways and a 1961 edition of A Street and Highway Plan for the Springfield Urban Area. Box 3 contains materials about Abraham Lincoln as well as some miscellaneous items regarding Springfield and SSU history. Ron Peddicord worked for SSU/UIS for over 26 years and was a Senior Library Specialist at Norris L Brookens Library. He has been a Route 66 enthusiast since the early 1990s.
