Scope and Contents
Gus Speder recalls his early years in East Germany, his move to West Germany with his mother and brother when he was eight, and their immigration to Illinois when he was fifteen. He recalls hardships as a child in Germany during and after WWII, his travels from Europe to the United States on a “Super Constellation” plane to New York, and his childhood education and experiences as a high school history teacher.
