Prior to 1980 every graduating student at UIS was required to submit a Graduation Report to his advisor 30 days before the end the student's final term. This applied to undergraduate and graduate students. The reports consisted of a self assessment and demonstration of the student's academic achievement and communication skills. Teacher evaluations are also included in some reports.

Plato IV group notes (1976-81) consist of bound computer printouts that contain messages between users of the Plato system. The users discuss problems, hints, solutions and suggestions about lessons and using Plato. Plato was a computer-based educational system located at the University of Illinois in Urbana with terminals throughout North America, including SSU.

Scope and Contents There is no retention program for student & faculty writing in the English Program, so these five papers may have been retained for particular interest or simply by accident.
