Scope and Contents
Collection consists primarily of student created project binders in fulfillment of course requirements (specifically LES 489 Wrongful Conviction of the Innocent) related to the University of Illinois at Springfield's Downstate Illinois Innocence Project. Files include independent research conducted by students as well as court transcripts, police reports, forensics reports, information on legal precedents, correspondence, course handouts and assignments as well as student created papers and reports. The cases of Darwin Sullivan, Rodney Woitdke, Alan Beaman and Anthony Porter are prominently featured within the records. Students involved include Rebecca Averbeck, Risha Cox, Catherine Diaz, Larrie Foor, Becky Gibson, Mary Anne Katcher, Kelly Larcher, Holly Molloy, Josh Rohrsherb, Brian Switzer, Dawn Weckmann and Tracy Zerrusen. Julie Rea-Harper case added in 2013.
