Co-op Thoughts' Notebook, 1988
Scope and Contents
This collection contains the records of the King Harvest Food Co-op, a consumer cooperative operating in Springfield in the 1970s and 1980s. It contains meeting notes, correspondence, newsletters, operating procedures, financial records, member communications, flyers, and photographs documenting the administration, operations, and priorities of the King Harvest Food Co-op, as well as its relationships with other cooperative organizations in the Springfield area. The collection is divided into two series: King Harvest’s Operations, and Cooperative and Community Organizations.
Series I: King Harvest’s Operations, 1973-1989 contains board records, correspondence, daily operation instructions, notes, inventory records, financial records, flyers, newsletters (including the Garbanzo Gazette, Tulip Times, King Harvest News, and the Cornland Infrequenter), and related materials documenting the co-op’s management, values, products and sales, and relationships with other local organizations. Arranged alphabetically.
Series II: Cooperative and Community Organizations, 1973-1988 contains correspondence, conference materials, flyers, newsletters, and related materials originating from other cooperative and community organizations, both local and not. These materials document the activities of the wider cooperative movement and King Harvest’s connections with those organizations. This series also includes records from the Full Circle Resource Exchange, a free telephone service based in Springfield which matched volunteer teachers with learners interested in acquiring new skills, including the organization’s call log. Arranged alphabetically.
