This collection contains the records of the Springfield Consumer Protection Association. Materials include correspondence, consumer complaints, by-laws, meeting minutes, financial records, press, and informational materials documenting complaints made by consumers in Springfield and the organization’s efforts to resolve conflicts between consumers and businesses. The collection is divided into two series: Working File and Research File.

Series I: Working File, 1968-1973 contains correspondence, consumer complaints, by-laws, meeting minutes, financial records, and press materials documenting the work of the SCPA. Arranged alphabetically.

Series II: Research File, 1970-1973 contains information for consumers such as Buyer’s and Consumer Guides, promotional information about Springfield industries and the city’s Chamber of Commerce, and laws regarding consumer protection. Arranged alphabetically.
